My therapist has been a positive light in our son’s life. She is kind, caring and insightful and helped us tackle challenges as a family. She related well to our son and was always quick to offer him positive encouragement. We can not speak highly enough about her and would highly recommend her as a therapist!
Sara is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of experience as a healthcare professional in Marin County. She is dedicated to supporting children, teens, and adults. For the past decade, she has focused on helping children and their parents navigate challenges with warmth, compassion, and deep understanding.
Creating a safe and welcoming space is at the heart of her work. Clients feel genuinely seen and supported as they build resilience, self-awareness, and confidence. Using evidence-based approaches, she helps individuals manage anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, depression, trauma, grief and life transitions. She also specializes in working with gifted children and teens and guiding parents through the complexities of divorce and separation.
Her work with adults incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to treat anxiety, OCD, and depression. Seeing clients make meaningful progress as they discover the right therapy tools, lifestyle changes, and new perspectives is incredibly rewarding.
With a client-centered approach, she seamlessly integrates CBT and Psychodynamic principles when working with children and teens. She incorporates Play Therapy and Sandplay Therapy with younger children, which help them express emotions and process experiences in a developmentally appropriate way.
As a long-term mindfulness practitioner, Sara has also taught mindfulness at Marin schools as an instructor in the Mindful Classrooms program. Sara’s therapeutic approach incorporates concepts from mindfulness including skills to increase emotional regulation and impulse control, as well as ways to reduce anxiety.
Beyond her work, she finds joy in hosting friends and family in the home she and her husband designed and built. Time in nature is essential to her well-being—whether hiking the hills of Marin or playing in the waves at local beaches.
