Nolan is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who firmly believes that emotions are a language clients of all ages can learn to understand and speak. His therapeutic approach focuses on deeply understanding his clients and helping them recognize and harness their innate strengths. With a kind, gentle, and compassionate warmth, he supports clients in breaking free from circumstances that keep them stuck. Nolan empowers them to create lasting change by offering tools to help them live long, fulfilling lives, not just addressing immediate problems. This belief in the power of emotions validates his clients’ experiences, making them feel understood and accepted.
Specializing in supporting boys, teens, and men, Nolan guides his clients through challenges such as technology and media use, anger management, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, and relationship dynamics. He is passionate about engaging young men to explore masculinity and personal growth. Nolan also enjoys working with girls, young women, and non-binary individuals, ensuring a safe and non-judgmental space for all. Using CBT and exposure techniques, Nolan equips his clients with the tools and the confidence to face their fears.
His own experiences shaped Nolan’s path to becoming a therapist. He earned a Bachelor’s in English from the University of Puget Sound, where he grew to appreciate how our personal stories shape who we are. Over a decade as a College Admissions Counselor and High School College and Career Counselor, he helped teens and young adults uncover their identities and aspirations. Seeking to make a more profound impact, he pursued a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Dominican University of California. Since then, he has been committed to his therapeutic practice in Marin, working with children, families, and adults.
Nolan’s upbringing in a special effects studio sparked a lifelong passion for storytelling and imagination, which play a central role in his identity. His love for fantasy novels, video games, and movies not only fuels his personal interests but also deepens his ability to connect with clients, bringing creativity and insight into his therapeutic work. When not embracing his inner nerd, Nolan enjoys hiking with his wife Jenn and their dog Teemo, spending time with family and friends, or relaxing at their home in San Rafael.
